Special Event - Thursday, August, 2009
VISIT THE WRIGHT BROTHERS' WORKSHOP!
Unless you have a time machine, the only way you can see and touch real Wright Brothers Flyers is to visit The Wright Experience in Warrenton, Virginia. That's where Ken Hyde and his team are building exact replicas of every plane the Wrights built.
Meticulously researched and built by hand, these "new" Wright Flyers are the only historically accurate reproductions of Orville and Wilbur's machines. Now you can see the planes themselves, where they're built and meet the people who are building them.
Committee For Dulles has received a special invitation for a private tour of The Wright Experience workshop. We'll see the completed 1908 Fort Myer Flyer, the first plane to fly publicly in the United States - right here in Virginia! And we'll see how the planes are made, the engines hand-machined and the fabric sown onto the wings. This is a rare opportunity. One you won't want to miss! On Thursday, August 20, 2009, our bus will depart from the Dulles Hilton parking lot at 11:30 AM. We'll enjoy a box lunch as we drive to Warrenton and spend two hours at The Wright Experience. We'll return in the afternoon for a cocktail party at the Hilton.
We need to know exactly how many people are interested in order to arrange transportation. Please respond to Tom Simmons (tom@tsimm.com) or Susan Davis (info@committeefordulles.org) or RSVP below by June 30.
